Some Really Nice Lines from the Book
  • "You Vin, are what is generally called a Mistborn." This line is the margin that starts Vin's important role in the series (there are 3 books, but I chose this because it's the most basic). This is where she discovers who she truly is after 16 years of living a miserable life. It's also very iconic, because it symbolizes the start of a very close relationship with Kelsier, her Mistborn companion/mentor.

  • "I am God... God cannot be killed. God cannot be overthrown." This line marks an intense part in the book, which is between the Lord Ruler and Vin. It shows the Lord Ruler expressing his thoughts to Vin, a rare occurrence especially at this stage. He shows his superiority in a very bold way by denouncing and ignoring her efforts of overthrowing him, and declares himself as The Silver of Infinity; basically a part of God himself.
Vin and the Lord Ruler

"But you can't kill me, Lord Tyrant. I represent that thing you've never been able to kill, no matter how hard you try. I am hope." This shows Kelsier's power and confidence, even when facing something so much more powerful than him.
Allomancy
This is what the book is all about, and where Brandon Sanderson truly shows his genius. Allomancy is a power granted by the Lord Ruler right after the Ascension. People who have this power are usually the noblemen, the people that are the most loyal to him. Mistings are people who have one Allomantic power, such as manipulating a person's emotions. Sometimes, people can get all 8 Allomantic powers, and this happens when a nobleman/woman and a skaa(peasant) bare a child. This child is known as a half breed, and at one point of their lives, they would Snap( or discover their true powers) to become known as Mistborn.

  1. Pewter- An alloy of tin and lead- gives the wielder an extra, abnormal strength boost.
  2. Tin - Enhances the senses- extended field of vision, as well as a supernatural advantage in all the five senses.
  3. Iron- allows the Allomancer to pull on metallic objects. If the object weighs less than the Allomancer, it is drawn towards him/her. If it weighs more, vice versa.
  4. Steel- Brother of Iron- allows the Allomancer to push on metallic objects. Every time the Allomancer pushes on a metallic object, both the objects and the Allomancer move in opposite directions. If the Allomancer weighs less than the object, only the Allomancer "flies" in the opposite direction.
These are the basic and most useful metals. The others are a bit more complicated, and less practical...

What I learned from the book

When facing the hardships of life, we sometimes underestimate ourselves. We don't really know what were capable of unless we take chances, and truly believe in ourselves. Life tells us how to follow and live our life. But only we can decide that.

I recommend you folks to read this awesome series because of its' interesting storyline, its detail, and magical essence that will keep you perked up overnight until the last page. It also has its' own laws and regulations, and many concepts in physics are applied.
